George III 1797
'Cartwheel'
Twopence
A great example of the iconic 'Cartwheel' copper twopence.
The largest base metal coin issued in the UK, it weighs two ounces, has
a 41mm diameter and is 5mm thick.
Unsurprisingly, it proved too heavy for common use and was the last
copper/bronze twopence to be struck
for nearly 200 years.
We grade this coin as a good VF.
